Ashbourne Day Nursery Facilities
The Ashbourne Day Nurseries Group has extensively refurbished Little Flyers Day Nursery to facilitate its ‘care, nurture, teach’ ethos and so it is a spacious, light and airy place to play, learn and develop.
Garden activities and facilities
Little Flyers Day nursery has a large outside play area, some of which is covered. It includes;
Sand and water play area.
Children’s bike arena – a large hard surface play area.
A themed area, which regularly changes, designed so that the children get plenty of exercise as they play.
Plant beds where children can grow vegetables and flowers while learning about nature and botany.
Summer houses which are themed according to what the children are learning.
The nursery is split into four different childrens’ playrooms for different ages, including a sensory room for babies – each room has potty training or age-specific toilet facilities leading off it. The pre-school room also has direct access to the garden. We also have a number of fire exits which are wheelchair accessible.
In our Butterflies and Grasshopper rooms there are age-specific children’s toilet and potty training facilities:
Our Bumblebee room caters for babies from 3 months old to just after their 2nd birthday. There is no age specific time for them to move up to the next room, this is decided by our team of practitioners who work with the parents to decide. Our bumblebee room is lead by Kay.
Our Butterflies room caters for children from just after their 2nd birthday to around their 3rd Birthday. There is no age specific time for them to move up to the next room, this is decided by our team of practitioners who work with the parents to decide. Our butterflies room is lead by Wendy.
Our Grasshoppers room caters for children from just after their 3rd birthday up till just before they make the transistion to school. In our pre-school room we help prepare the children for the next stage in their life, as well as having lots of fun! Our grasshopper room is lead by Mary.
Our Pilots room is where we cater for all school age children who attend our Breakfast & Afterschool Club and our Holiday Club. This room is lead by Trish.
We also have an onsite, self-contained kitchen where all meals are prepared by our cook Karen.
Nursery car park and facilities
Little Flyers Day Nursery is set on an old army airfield next to Epping Forest. The building is all on one level with a large outside play area and separate car park.
The nursery is wheelchair accessible throughout, including fire exits and toilets. The building can accommodate most disabilities.
Although Little Flyers Day Nursery is on an attractive location, we don’t leave anything to chance when it comes to the children’s security. We have CCTV camera's monitoring the outside premises, including our carpark. This has also recently been installed within the nursery to protect the children and our practitioners. We have a buzzer door security system and a member of management will always check the security camera's before letting anyone in.
